Aynur Tattersall / London, Aug 18 () – Turkey has begun to arm the Syria’s so-called Damascus Front that fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and the commanders of the Front have confirmed the arm shipment, said Britain’s reputable daily Times.

The Times has referred to the group called Damascus Front as “a coalition formed by rebels fighting against ISIL and Assad forces in Aleppo, both in the north and center of the city", while noting the Front had received arms aid after the contacts between the U.S. and Turkey.

The Damascus Front has given a fetwa and defined a collaboration with the U.S. and Turkey against the ISIL as a legitimate move, according to Times’ reporting.

The daily has also addressed analysis of Charles Lister from Brookings Institute Doha Center, which interprets this develepment as a “wise” move.

Having stressed the group’s position in close distance to Turkey, the report has stated the commanders of Damascus Front were expected to assume a more effective role within the fight against the ISIL, with support of U.S. and Turkey air operations.
