Gülseli Kenarlı / Istanbul, May 27 () - The number of foreign people visiting Turkey fell by 8.1 percent in April from the same months of the previous year, as number of German and Russian visitors falls, according to data from the Tourism Ministry.

The number of foreign visitors fell by 8.1 percent to 2.43 million in April, against in the same month of last year, according to the data released by the Ministry on Wednesday.

Number of tourists came from Germany fell by 9.5 percent to 381 thousand individuals in April, against in the same month of last year, while the number of tourists from Russia fell by 30 percent to 150 thousand over the same period.

The number of foreign visitors fell by 0.5 percent in the first four months of the year to 6.96 million, compared to the same period of 2014, when number of Russian tourists fell by 29 percent, according to the data.

Around 42.6 percent of them entered the country through Istanbul and 25.5 percent through Antalya, while 48 percent of them entered the country through Istanbul, followed by Antalya with 16.6 percent and the northwestern province of Edirne.
