Ankara, Nov 29 () - Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has stated the body of the Russian pilot was brought to Turkey to be handed over to Russia, in a press briefing held at Ankara’s airport prior to his departure for the EU-Turkey Summit.

The body of the pilot, who was downed by Turkish F-16s on Nov. 24, would be prepared in accordance with Orthodox tradition before being handed over to Russia, Davutoğlu said.

Two Turkish F-16s shot down a Russian jet fighter on Nov. 24 at around 9:20 a.m. near the southern province of Hatay’s Yayladağı district after the plane violated the border between Turkey and Syria, despite being warned multiple times.
