Mehmet Kayhan Yıldız / Istanbul, May 5 () - Farmers are expecting record level of grain harvest in 2015 season in Konya region, known as the "grain store" of Turkey, under favour of the best volume of rainfall in the last 30 years.

"We expect 3 million tonnes of grain harvest in 2015 in our region, 50 percent higher than 2 million tonnes in 2014" said Ali Ataiyibiner, head of the Konya Meram Chamber of Agriculture.

"The volume of the rainfall we had this year was 40 percent higher than last year, which helped the seeds to germinate by 98 percent, a record level for tens of years" he added.
