Istanbul, Sep 29 () – In the tourism industry, the leading component of the external deficit financing of Turkey, confronts an ongoing decline, due to security concerns and regional tension.

According to the Culture and Tourism Ministry data, the number of foreigners visiting Turkey during the liveliest season, in August, dropped by 2.88 percent to 5.13 million people against in the same month of last year.

Thus, the number of foreigners fell by 0.89 percent to 25.51 million visitors, against the same period of the previous year.

According to ministry data, the decline continued in the number of Russian and European visitors, which constitute a significant margin in the distribution among countries.

In this perspective, visitors from Russia dropped by 20.72 percent in the first eight months of the year against the same period of 2014.

Accordingly, the number of visitors from France also dropped by 17.39 percent, Italians by 23.9 percent and Japanese by 33.59 percent over the same period.

On the other hand, visitors from Germany covering the largest amount of visitors to Turkey rose by 4.14 to 842,000 people.
