Istanbul, February 11 () - Output of Turkish automotiv industry rose by 37 percent to over 100 thousand units in January, according to the Automotive Industry Monthly Report, released by the Automotive Manufacturers Associaton, on Wednesday.

Total monthly production of the industry rose to 102,574 units in January, including 60,414 units of automobiles, 16 percent up from 52,006 units in the same month of the previous year and 42,160 units of commercial vehicles, 83 percent up from 23,036 units over the same period.

Exports of the industry rose by 54.0 percent to 79,288 units or 1.76 billion dollars in January, against in the same period of last year, while automobile exports, the hub of industry's international sales, rose by 35 percent to 48,533 units or 580 million dollars, over the same period.

Automotive imports fell by 5.0 percent to 21,774 units in January, including 17,102 units of automobiles, which fell by 6.0 percent.

Domstic automotive market sales rose by 7.0 percent to 36,567 units in January, 24,498 units of which were automobiles, with an increase of just 1.0 percent in the same period.
