Edip Tekin / Bursa, Nov 5 () - The Birleşik Metal-İş union within the Progressive Trade Unions' (DİSK) announced that 1,500 metal workers have been dismissed during the strikes and protests which sparked and emerged between workers and other automotive companies, in Oyak Renault and TOFAŞ factories operating in Bursa.

The General Secretary of the Birleşik Metal-İş Union, Selçuk Göktaş, made a press conference, this time accompanied by the France General Confederation of Labour (CGT) Renault Group Head Fabien Gache.

Among the workers who have participated the events, some 80 metal workers in TOFAŞ, and 1,500 workers across the country have been dismissed, said Göktaş.

Göktaş added all the Renault workers have resigned from the Türk-Metal Union, after the events. On the other hand, 4,000 worker joined the union, while 200 others rejoined the union.

Meanwhile, CGT Group Head Fabien Gache assured they would be supporting the workers.

“The workers have the rights to join unions, speak up for themselves, and make demands. However employers restrict these freedoms with pressure and threats.

After the strikes in May, the force of employers have been partially weakened, said Gache, urging the company officials to keep their word.
