Istanbul, April 24 () - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated on Wednesday that negotiations with the United States are possible only if the country lifts sanctions imposed against the Islamic Republic, and apologizes for its "illegal" moves. However, Rouhani stated that Washington is not seeking negotiations with Iran at the moment.
Iranian president went on to say that the US has failed in its plots aimed against Iran in the past 40 years, and will again. He added that the decision on whether to close the strategically important Strait of Hormuz lies on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Rouhani's comments come just days after the US decided to stop granting waivers that enable certain countries to import Iranian crude despite US sanctions.
