Bedir Altınok, Sep 23 () - In northeastern province of Kars, residents of the Halefoğlu village slammed the policies failing to solve the problems in potable water supplies, announced they would boycott the snap elections to be held in November, if their calls would not be heard by officials.

The village with a population of around 3,000 has been facing problems in potable water supplies for a half century and villagers have been carrying water by horses and donkeys from a probed plateau in eight kilometers distance.

As the pond has also dried up, recently, which encouraged the 1,600 electors in the village to not to vote in the upcoming snap election on Nov. 1.

Villagers with 20,000 cattles, 5,000 sheep and goats raised concerns, added that the schools and mosques also suffer to provide water supplies.

“No one should expect votes from us. We are suffering. It is already feast, but we do not have water” said a villager.
