Ankara, Sep 3 () - Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu brought to the agenda of the Grand Assembly the migrant crisis and Turkey’s take on it, as the image showed three-year-old toddler Syrian Kurdish Aylan Kurdi’s lifeless body, drown off the Aegean, washed ashore Turkey’s Bodrum coast, sparked outrage across the world.

The opposition party’s MP Tanrıkulu urged officials to answer “who are the responsibles of the heart-wrenching images and the tragic events sparking across the country?”, having filed a parliamentary question to the National Grand Assembly demanding Turkey’s PM Ahmet Davutoğlu to make a written response.

“The reports regarding the two illegal migrant disasters that have occurred in Bodrum, leaving 11 people killed and 5 people missing, have reflected to the press. The image of a three-year-old toddler, Aylan, has wrenched hearts, family of the brothers have collapsed in front of the hospital, after having identified the bodies of their children” said Tanrıkulu, addressing several questions to Turkish authorities:

“What is the sequel of the five migrants gone missing in two different boat disasters? The lifeless bodies of Aylan and his 5-year-old brother Galip Kurdi made the case clear once again. Who are responsible of this incident, where two toddlers’ bodies washed ashore? Why haven’t authorities taken the necessary measures beforehand, regarding the chain of these events? How many adults and children have lost their lives in the last year across Turkey, in these events? How many migrants have crossed through Turkey, where have they headed to, in which ways?” asked Tanrıkulu.

Having urged the possible impact of foreign policies of Justice and Development Party (AKP) between 2002-2015, Tanrıkulu asked Davutoğlu to explain the measures and implementations of the government against the crisis in Aegean and Mediterenean regions, adding “Aren’t these killings a concrete example of human right’s violation?”
