Yakup Askerzadeh / Hamburg, Sep 28 () - Turkey’s HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş made a statement within his Europe visit, gave signs of a potential coalition with Republican People’s Party (CHP).

“CHP, HDP and forces, communities taking sides with peace, freedom and democracy should be able to offer a democratic alternative power to Turkey society” urged Demirtaş in Hamburg city of Germany, on Sep. 27.

“There has been smear campaigns launched against our party during election terms. These efforts of disinformation affects, would affect the positions following an accurate election as well. For instance, pro-governmental media has been carrying out a smear campaign, recently, claiming I have gave instructions of certain acts of the PKK (outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party). On the contrary, we have been a political party making a great effort to stop the war and clashes, as the public opinion also recognizes” Demirtaş added.

According to Demirtaş, “either the AKP should change it self or Turkey will have to get rid of the AKP” to resolve the problems. In this regard, the statement of Demirtaş urged an alternative and democratic authority, involving a cooperation of CHP and HDP.

‘European votes are valuable’

Having declared the HDP gave great importance to overseas votes, Demirtaş announced in this electoral term, a single vote, one minor change in number of MPs could have the rule to change the balances of the parliament’s arithmetic.

Regarding the significant number of electors of Turkey origin in Germany, the party has been carrying out an electoral campaign with Germany in focus, declared Demirtaş.

The HDP Co-Chair also referred to Germany’s role regarding the refugee crisis in Europe, a global issue also influenced by the atmosphere of conflict and instability in Turkey.

"International communities should make further effort for stability in Turkey"

Demirtaş told, Germany could contribute the efforts to assure peace in the country and resolve the Kurdish problem.

“Turkey needs encouraging and motivating support of for the Kurdish problem, and Germany could actively play its role” said Demirtaş, having urged that along with HDP’s efforts to relaunch the talks and reassure the ceasefire, Turkey needed further efforts of international communities, governments and states.
