Ümit Türk / Istanbul, Aug 12 () - Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputies Garo Paylan and Filiz Kerestecioğlu have filed complaint against Professor Ahmet Atilla Şenturk from Istanbul Arel University, over his Facebook post saying, “It can’t go on like this. For every single martyr an HDP deputy should be dropped (word 'indirmek' is used for 'killing' in Turkish) in retaliation”. The post has been slammed on social media platforms since the professor’s words.

“Unfourtanely the ones we had called educators have been instilling hatred rather than human values to our children for three generations. We don’t want the language of war to engrain in the education life and we don’t want these academicians to enter the education community” said Paylan in his press statement.

Paylan added that he has visited Arel University and found out that Professor Şenturk has been suspended from the faculty, having thanked the officials of the university. “Today, we will file a complaint against him so these kinds of academicians will not get away with their deeds” added Paylan.

Within the complaint, HDP deputies demanded a prosecution against the professor, stating that the post shared at professor’s personal Facebook page on August 10 committed the crimes of “banning the use of political rights”, “inciting to commit crime” and “inciting the public to hatred and hostility”.

"It is not enough to blame him just for his hatred; since he is a proffesor, his words represent hate crime" Lawyer Fatma Özdemir said, speaking in the name of Free Lawyers Association.
