Ahmet Yıldırım / Antalya, Aug 19 () – German author Feridun Zaimoğlu of Turkish origin was nominated for the 2015 Best German-language Novel Award.

One of the prominent authors of German literature, Zaimoğlu has entered the candidacy list of 20 people with his fiction novel entitled “Seven Tower” (Yedikule- Siebentürmevierte), along with other well-known authors including Lina Bronsky, Jenny Erpenbeck, Valerie Fritsch, Steffen Kopetzky, Ilija Trojanow, Ulrich Peltzer and Clemens J. Setz.

The list was shaped after an evaluation of 167 novels from 110 different publishing houses based in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The jury consisting of seven people will prepare a short list by September 16, and the winning author will be announced on October 12, within the world-renowned Frankfurt Book Fair.

Within the 10th Best German-language Novel Award, 37,500 euro will be distributed, while the 1st to receive 25,000 euros and the five novels in the final competition to receive 2,500 euros prize money.

Last year German author Lutz Seiler has won the same award with his fiction entitled “Kruso”.

WHO IS FERİDUN ZAİMOĞLU?

Born in December 4, 1964 in Turkey’s northwestern province of Bolu, author Feridun Zaimoğlu came to Germany with his family when he was one year old. They lived in Berlin and Münich until 1985. The author studied medicine and art in Kiel. Having worked as journalist and author since then, Zaimoğlu is recognized as one of the most important poets of contemporary German literature since 1995. Zaimoğlu has many novels, stories and essays.
