Emre Baylan / Antalya, June 17 () - A famous beach, which has remained untouched and been considered among the best in the Mediterranean province of Antalya, will have part of its natural beauty covered with concrete in a bid for the construction of a resort in the area.

The 65,000-square meter İnceboğaz Beach, which was rented by the Antalya district of Kaş Municipality in 2013 from the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, is within walking distance of downtown Kaş, located on the Çukurbağ peninsula, and known for having warmer water than other well-known beaches in the area.

The municipality will issue a tender on June 18 for environmental renovation of the beach area. Among the tender conditions are the construction of a 50-ton water tank and covering the ground with natural slate, which is only possible with a 10-centimeter thick layer of raw concrete poured on the beach.

An area for a casino, a buffet, a number of changing rooms, a wooden arbor and a railing are also to be built on the beach.

Although any sort of construction is not permitted between July 1 and Sept. 30, the tender will reportedly be completed in 70 days.

The municipality also conducted pre-construction work with caterpillars in April before issuing the tender, building an access road to the beach which lies within a protected natural site area, uprooting a large number of plants.
