Istanbul, May 13 () - 10th Allgau-Orient Friendship and Peace Rally that will be organized for 20-year-old and older cars in Muğla’s Dalyan Neighbourhood in Ortaca District by Turkish Ministry of European Union Civil Society, Communication and Culture Directorate, is expected to contribute both the region’s and Dalyan’s economy substantially.

To be organized on 21-22 May, 10th Allgau-Orient Friendship and Peace Rally will be aired live on CNN Türk and Best FM, alongside 12 European television channels. Started in Germany’s Oberstaufen city on 10th May, the rally is planned to be finalised on 28th May in Jordan.

Total 113 teams with 650 competitors and 260 cars joined the rally from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Italy, Northern Cyprus, Poland, Bosna-Herzegovina, England, Iceland, Japan, Croatia, Lichtenstein, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovenia, U.S. and Turkey. International press members will follow the rally that will be broadcasted by CNN Türk.

General Manager Hamdi Güvenç of Dalaman Airport Operator ATM/YDA that takes part in Rally Organisation Committee said, the rally was organized internationally for 10 years in the name of friendship and peace and appreciated in every city it passes through, stating that having one leg of the competition in Dalyan would be an important contributor to promote Dalyan.

Expressing that the participants will stay for 2 days, Güvenç said, “Not only it contributes to region’s economy but also it promotes the destination itself. A mobile library will be founded. We hope this project to become a tradition.”

The rally’s Muğla-Dalyan Coordinator and Tourism Professional Ali Mürşit Yağmur said they were expecting 650 racers to Dalyan with their 20-year-old and older cars of brands such as Mercedes and BMW and gave the following information:

"This in fact is not a car race but a friendship and peace race and a cultural amalgamation. People will take photos of the region and share them in social media. Dalyan will be promoted in 20 countries. Competitors will have duties to do in areas they go. For example they will be expected to go up the Radar Hill to take the best photos of Dalyan, İztuzu and Dalyan canals. Also they will try to find a picture drawn on a rock in Dalyan canal and shoot it. All these will be evaluated and those who rank highest will be decided at the final destination Jordan."
