Barbaros Tapan / Los Angeles, Feb 26 () - If Franco-Turkish director’s movie Mustang wins the Oscar for the Best Foreign Language Film award, it will be a great honor for Turkish cinema, said casting director of Oscar-nominated Mustang Harika Uygur Ülkü.

“I will cry all night if Mustang gets the Oscar” the renowned cast director told .

Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s "Mustang" portrays five teenage sisters living in a conservative neighborhood in northern Turkey.

"Our film has been praised here" Ülkü said in Los Angeles, adding that Hollywood's leading producers and film studios have acclaimed Mustang.

"Producers in Los Angeles have been more interested in Turkish cinema after Mustang. Everybody considers the film as Turkish, although we represent France" she said. Mustang has been submitted by France for Oscar nomination, as a joint French-German-Turkish production.

"If we win the Oscar, this would be a major honor for Turkish cinema. I would like to call on Turkish actors to work hard, improve their skills and participate to workshops. Hollywood is a great and challenging market. It is easier to take a chance in European cinema; thus, they should head for the European scene" Harika Uygur commented.

She referred to the casting process, adding that selecting the five young actresses was a long procedure. "We have met hundreds of actors. Our director Ergüven knew what she wanted" Ülkü said, underlining that all leading actors have embraced the spirit of the "Mustang" spirit well.
