Istanbul, Dec 2 () - Mark Zuckerberg, founder of the giant social media platform Facebook and his wife Priscilla Chan announced the birth of their daughter Max in a letter, where they also declared they were set to give away 99 percent of Facebook’s shares.

The couple said in the letter that they would be donating their fortune to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative because they want to make the world a better place for Max to grow up in.

Regarding Facebook’s recent value, this percentage amounts around 45 billion dollars of donation.

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative was found by the couple in a bid to advance human potential and promote equality in areas such as health, education, scientific research, and energy.

“It's a world where our generation can advance human potential and promote equality -- by curing disease, personalizing learning, harnessing clean energy, connecting people, building strong communities, reducing poverty, providing equal rights and spreading understanding across nations” Zuckerberg said, adressing not only newly born Max, but also the Facebook community across the World.

Mark Zuckerberg also thanked the Facebook community for their love and support during the pregnancy. “You've given us hope that together we can build this world for Max and all children” he said, in the letter.
