Istanbul, March 3 () - Consumer prices fell by 0.02 percent in Feb., close to expectated increase rates which were around 0.2-.03 percent. In the same period, domestic producer prices declined by 0.20 percent.

According to Turkstat data, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 1.80 percent in two months and by 8.78 percent on annual basis. According to data, the twelve months moving averages basis increased by 7.97 percent.

While the highest monthly increase was with 1.80 percent in health, the indices rose for miscellaneous goods and services by 1.31 percent , for alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 1 percent , for hotels, cafes and restaurants 0.78 percent and for transportation 0.77 percent.

On the contrary, the highest monthly decrease was observed by 6.16 percent in clothing and footwear. The indices dropped for communications by 0.42 percent, for recreation and culture 0.13 percent, for food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.04 percent.

The highest annual increase was 13.12 percent in hotels, cafes and restaurants. Also, alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 12.78 percent, miscellaneous goods and services by 12 percent, recreation and culture by 11.25 percent, furnishings and household equipment by 11.04 percent, which were the highest increases.

In Feb. 2016, within average prices of 417 items in the index, average prices of 38 items remained unchanged while average prices of 245 items rose and average prices of 134 items declined.

Developments at domestic producer prices   Domestic producer price index fell by 0.20 percent on monthly basis, increased by 0.34 percent in the first two months of the year and increased by 4.47 percent on annual basis. Domestic producer prices increased by 5.61 percent on the twelve months moving averages basis in February.   Domestic producer prices increased by 0.09 percent at mining and stone quarrying, increased by 0.15 percent at manufacturing, increased by 0.98 percent at water supply.   The highest rates of monthly decrease in domestic producer prices by sub divisions of industry were indices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning at 4.17 percent, for coke and refined petroleum products at 2.57 percent, for chemicals and chemical products at 1.64 percent.   On the other hand the highest rates of monthly increase in domestic producer prices by sub divisions of industry were indices for other manufactured goods at 5.13 percent, for wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture at 2.79 percent and for printing and recording services at 2.41 percent.
