Hasan Bozbey / Bursa, Oct 27 () - An independent candidate running for the Nov. 1 polls in western province of Bursa, Ali Osman Demirtaş, known with his “quite deserted” election rallies, has broken a record and achieved to address six people.

Demirtaş has been making speeches addressing people on streets to ask for vote, sometimes through kiosk windows or at tea gardens, sometimes under tents and umbrellas, near his massive poster he has hanged. However he was not able to attract anybody to his rallies. The following efforts in various districts have not ensured the support he has desired, either.

Six people, including a child at the rally

Apparently, Demirtaş is known among habitants in the Gemlik district with a chain of disappointments that he has been facing in his political career.

On Oct. 26, Demirtaş addressed the inhabitants of the Orhangazi district, and achieved to gather six people, including a child, while some of the people on the streets also made a “brief” attention to his rally.

“This was the most crowded rally of the candidate, of all time” mocked some of the inhabitants.

He also approached the supporters during his rally speech, lasted for two hours.

200,000 liras reserved for the “election campaign”

The independent candidate declared he would be a close follower of problems of Bursa, if he would successfully enter the Assembly.

Demirtaş, having the same name of Turkey’s political leaders HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş as well, has claimed he had run for local elections in Gemlik district before and had successfully received around 1,950 votes, in 1984.

The candidate has allocated around 200,000 liras, for the elections.

Demirtaş will be around for his rallies, until the election, to address his potential voters.
