Istanbul, May 15 () - Hürriyet Dünyası (Hürriyet World), which reaches 70 percent of Internet users in Turkey with newspaper websites and supplements through mobile phones, tablets and social media applications, has collected six International News Media Association (INMA) awards.

Thirty of the world’s top news media sales and marketing initiatives were honoured at the closing dinner of the 85th Annual INMA World Congress at the Edison Ballroom in New York’s Times Square before nearly 300 media executives on May 12.

Daily Radikal, a part of Hürriyet Dünyası, collected the top awards in “Best Use of Social Media” and “Best Public Relations or Community Service Campaign” categories with its “#4Hours” initiative, which was conceived against a Turkish law to censor Internet content. The initiative reached 32 million people even without a significant budget.

The same campaign of Radikal was also the runner-up in the coveted INMA category of “Best in Show” and awarded third place in the category of “Best Idea to Grow Digital Audience or Engagement.”

Daily Hürriyet’s digital edition, hurriyet.com.tr, was awarded as the runner-up in the “Best Idea to Grow Digital Audience or Engagement” category, and was third in the “Launch of a Brand or Product to Create a New Audience Segment” category.

Medellín-based El Colombiano for “ECOlab,” an Internet media lab that has incubated new initiatives that have led to increases in revenue, audience, and market share, topped the “Best in Show” category.

The INMA Awards 2015 competition generated 578 entries from 190 market-leading companies in 38 countries. The competition was judged in February by an international jury of 33 executives from 15 countries representing the worlds of media and marketing.

Created in 1935, the INMA Awards competition is the news media industry’s premier barometer for growing audience, revenue, and brand across platforms. Overall, 30 first place awards in 15 categories across two audience groups were presented to 26 media companies.
