Ali Leylak / Şanlıurfa, July 31 () – HDP Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ, who has been recently subjected to a criminal investigation for her previous statement during protests in October 2014 for Kobane, responded “They have leaned on the ISIL”.

Yüksekdağ had said, “We lean on Rojava, Kobane, peoples who resist against the ferocity of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL); we lean on the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Women's Protection Units (PYD) who fight for humanity." On July 31, the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has reportedly launched a criminal investigation against these remarks.

HDP’s Yüksekdağ told the reporters on July 31, during a celebration in the Suruç district of Şanlıurfa, the province where the deadly suspected ISIL suicide bombing had marked the agenda, “In that speech, I had made another call. I had said ‘Come lean on the PYD. May Turkey’s back strengthen. Do not lean on the ISIL.’ For years the political power has leaned on the ISIL. I am behind my words”.

Yüksekdağ added that “the criminal investigation launched against her and the impunity debates are void, and have no grant on HDP’s side, since these decisions are made during the term of a provisional and illegal government.”
