Istanbul, June 26 () - Republican People’s Party (CHP) head Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu held a meeting with U.K. Ambassador to Turkey Richard Moore, with regional developments, particularly Syria, on the agenda at the CHP’s party headquarters on June 25.

Kılıçdaroğlu explained his party’s view regarding the Syrian conflict, underlining the need for “a negotiation table for resolution” around which Iran, Russia and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad would also be present, along with a number of primary actors, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing anonymous sources.

Moore, meanwhile, posted a series of messages to his Twitter account concerning his meeting with Kılıçdaroğlu.

He described his meeting with the CHP leader as “part of regular program of calls on all parties.”

“[Kılıçdaroğlu and I] discussed developments in Turkey and its neighborhood,” Moore said. “Again: my meeting with CHP Chairman Kılıçdaroğlu was part of a series of regular meetings with all parties. We discussed current developments in Turkey and its neighborhood. I did not express any opinion on the make-up of a coalition. That is for Turkish politicians to decide. The U.K. will work with any government that is formed and will continue our excellent cooperation with Turkey” Moore elaborated.

The meeting came at a time when political debates over the prospects of forming a coalition government after the June 7 parliamentary election have intensified.
