Öykü Altuntaş / Canada, Dec 8 () - Canada vowed to withdraw its jets fighting with the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State (IS) in Syria and Iraq, in a bid to fulfil its electoral campaign promise, the foreign ministry said.

Canada's new Liberal government will withdraw six fighter jets in weeks, FM Stephane Dion told reporters on Dec. 7 and added, "We are carrying out two percent of the airstrikes. We are going to do something more efficient for the coalition".

Mr Trudeau, the new Prime Minister of Canada, has pledged to bring home the CF-18 fighter jets deployed to the region until Mar. 2016, within the electoral campaign of this party, the Liberals, which has swept to power over the Conservative rule.

The country has engaged in a previous training mission in Iraq, which was ended after the U.S. has withdrawn its forces from Iraq in 2011 over the country’s invasion in 2003.
