Istanbul, May 26 () - Turkey's wheat production is seen to rise by 18.4 percent to 22.5 million tonnes in 2015, pushing total sereal production up by 17.5 percent, according to the crop production first estimation data released by Turkstat on Tuesday.

Turkstat uses the data of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in its agricultural products estimation. Cereals production will increase by 17.5 percent to 38.4 million tonnes on annual basis in 2015 .

Wheat production is expected to rise by 18.4 percent to 22.5 million tonnes, barley production to rise by 27 percent to 8 million tonnes, rice in the husk production to rise by 10.8 percent to 920 thousand tonnes, maize production to rise by 5.9 percent to 6.3 million tonnes in 2015 on annual basis.

In the pulses group, chick peas production to increase by 2.2 percent to 460 thousand tonnes, red lentil by 0.9 percent to 328 thousand tonnes, potatoes to increase by 16 percent to 4.8 million tonnes.

In the group of oil seeds, it was expected that sunflower production will increase by 3.1 percent to 1.7 million tonnes.

It was estimated that tobacco production will be 75 thousand tonnes with increasing rate of 7.1 percent, while sugar beets production to fall by 4.9 percent to 16 million tonnes.

Vegetables production in 2015 was estimated to be approximately 29.5 million tonnes with increasing rate of 3.2 percent when compared with the previous year.

The production of tomatoes seen to rise by 5.5 percent, dry onion by 8.1 percent, while okra crop to fall at 3.6 percent, eggplant crop by 3.4 percent and broad beans 9.1 percent.

It was estimated that total fruits production seen to rise by 6.1 percent to 18.2 million tonnes in 2015 when compared with the previous year. Apple production seen to rise by 2.2 percent, peaches by 0.9 percent, cherries by 16.9 percent, apricots by 108.1 percent, while raspberry crop to fall  by 5.7 percent and carobs production to fall by 9.2 percent, on annual basis.

In the citrus group, an increase was expected in mandarin production by 2.3 percent, hazelnuts production is expected to increase by 42 percent and pistachios by 100 percent.

It was estimated that grape production would fall by 0.7 percent, while increment was expected as 9.5 percent in fig production.
