Tahsin Güler / Ankara, Oct 26 () - Republican People’s Party (CHP) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) youth branches, along with Thought Clubs Federation (FKF), Student Collectives and Youth Opposition (Gençlik Muhalefeti) members, have gathered at the Ankara Train Station to protest the deadly Ankara massacre, at 10.04 a.m. when the attack has occurred, on Oct. 26.

Following the suspected ISIL suicide attacks, at least 102 people were killed while hundreds were wounded, on early Oct. 10, having shaken the country with the “biggest terror attack of Turkey’s history”. The massacre has sparked protests across the country, raising questions on the government’s responsibilities and “security gaps”, over the attack.

"We refuse hostility, we will unify against war"

At the joint commemorating, youth groups released 102 balloons into the sky, in memory of people having lost their lives, at the twin blast ahead of the “Peace Rally” in Ankara. The group made a press statement, after a moment of silence, having left red cloves and placards showing pictures of the 102 people killed in Ankara massacre. CHP Ankara MP Aylin Nazlı Aka and CHP Head of Youth Branch İrfan İnanç Yıldız were also at the protest.

“The gang in power aims to turn the country to a blood bath. It is not bearable anymore. What they desire is to make us become hostile to each other, they want to see us killing each other at universities, streets. There is no alternative way to gather, as youth full of hope of a country to live in human conditions, against this darkness. We will unify against war” said the press statement of FKF.

"The youth will protect ballots"

The statement added youth in Turkey was decisive to fight for their unity, and to refuse the normalization of these attacks and murders. “We will respond to the attacks against women, as well, side by side” declared the youth branches.

“We will protect ballots all together, in districts, universities, neighborhoods, by forming security committees” added the press statement, referring to the upcoming elections on Nov. 1 and electoral security concerns.
