Gaziantep, Dec 29 () - Syrian journalist Naji El Jerf, known for his documentaries against the Islamic State (IS) was shot dead by a bullet in the hand by assailants inside Turkey, on Dec. 27.

"Film maker Naji Jerf, father of two children, was assassinated... today in Gaziantep, on the border with Syria, with a silencer-equipped pistol” said RBSS, a group of citizen journalists, in a statement on Twitter.

Jerf, who had fled the Syrian conflict and moved to Gaziantep, had been publishing a magazine called Alhita, and lately he was working on a documentary on massacres by the IS. The Syrian journalist, shot dead on Ali Fuat Cebesoy Boulevard in the afternoon, was not saved despite medical intervention in the state hospital.
